Geothermal
What is a Geothermal Heat Pump?
A geothermal heat pump is a heating and air system that uses a renewable resource, geothermal energy, to maintain a comfortable temperature of your house. In an effort to encourage use of this technology, federal tax credits may be available.
How do they work?
While surface temperature can vary greatly between winter and summer, the temperature a few feet below Earth’s surface remains nearly constant. The graphic below demonstrates how a geothermal unit uses this naturally occurring difference to its advantage to heat and cool your home. More information about how geothermal units work and their impact on the environment can be found on the EPA Website.
What kind of maintenance is required?
